Springdale Man Used the Darknet to Download 15k CP pictures
James Daosaeng, a 24-year-old Springdale man, admitted he had downloaded almost 15,000 pictures and videos of child abuse from illegal darknet sites and forums. He pleaded guilty receiving child pornography’ at the U.S. District Court in Fayetteville this week.
The federal plea bargain worked massively in Daosaeng’s favor. In January, a federal grand jury indicted the man on four counts of receiving child pornography’ and a single count of possession of child pornography. Although he now faces up to 20 years in prison for the reception of child pornography charge, his sentence would have been far worse if the other charges had not gotten dropped in favor of the plea agreement.
In July 2017, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force learned that a Springdale man had been uploading child abuse content to sources on the internet. (It sounded as if he had been using torrent programs and seeding the illegal content. The Task Force notified partner law enforcement agencies who made their move quickly. Daosaeng was not even home when the search began. He later arrived to find law enforcement hunting for computers. Daosaeng immediately started confessing everything to the police. He said he had downloaded 13,791 images and videos from the darknet where he had shared the content as well
