Maximilian Schmidt (ShinyFlakes) was sentenced to seven years in juvenile detention in 2015 for operating the illegal online drug trafficking platform 'Shiny Flakes' from his parent's house. When he was arrested at the age of 20, drugs worth 4.1 million euros were seized.

The first trial took place in January 2023.
Schmidt allegedly set up Candylove in an open prison. Information about Schmidt and four other accomplices was gathered with the help of an informant. The court did not want to give the name of the informant.

ShinyFlakes stated before Leipzig Regional Court that he had only been involved as the IT Admin behind the online drug store Candylove. According to his statement, he was only responsible for programming the online drug store. According to the public prosecutor's office, however, Maximilian S. is said to have acted as the head of the gang.
Max's statement:
I was not the boss in this thing. I didn't pay for drugs, I didn't store drugs and I didn't set the prices for sales. It was agreed that I could opt-out at any time. It was clear to me that I didn't want anything to do with it except programming.
According to ShinyFlakes, the initiator of the transactions was the co-defendant Friedemann G. (36). He had met him in 2018 in an open prison. Since then, he saw him as a big brother and friend. Furthermore, he stated that he had not derived any benefits from the business.
In a hearing from March 2023, new information arose. The police are unable to decrypt the encrypted hard drives.
Two and a half years ago, the police confiscated his hard drives, USB sticks and SD cards. Since then, IT experts from the State Criminal Police Office have been trying to decrypt the storage.
It's not only the court that is hoping for information about the content of the encrypted storage. Saxon financial investigators are also expecting success in tracking down funds on them. Sums in the millions are still missing.
Four out of five defendants have confessed and the co-defendant Friedemann G, admitted to having been involved in drug trafficking. With his confession, he also confirmed the previously made statements by Maximilian S.
It's June 2023 with yet another court appearance. Maximilian S is now sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. The court also revealed that at the correctional facility, he was known as someone who occasionally snitched on other inmates to the guards to gain advantages.
The fifth defendant, former criminal defense lawyer André R. (52) was acquitted because he could not be proven to have participated.
