About

Simple and focused

Write.as isn’t made for building any kind of website. It helps you get your thoughts down — and published — fast.

Frictionless publishing

Make writing and publishing a habit, with no distractions to interrupt your creative flow.

Auto-saving editor

Know your writing will always be waiting for you when you get back, even if you don’t “save” before leaving.

Free your thoughts

We don’t track you, so you can write exactly what you feel. Write anonymously or under different identities, giving you full control over who knows what about you. Write.as is used by students, writers, activists, and everyday people who need a safe outlet online.

Stay independent

Break away from free sites that plaster their name over your work. Build a site with your own domain name, and your own look. Then rest easy knowing you’re never stuck here — Write.as is built on open source software that you can always self-host.

Here, your readers are free from walled gardens, too. They can get your updates on the web, in their inbox, via RSS, or on their favorite social network — even decentralized platforms like Mastodon and Pleroma.

One of our goals is to fully support anonymity online (and make it easy), so we launched a Tor
hidden service at http://writeas7pm7rcdqg.onion, which our Android app and
command-line client (https://write.as/cli.html) support. It can be enabled in
Android with the “Always Use Tor” setting, but if you’re already an Orbot user,
the app will use Tor by default.
