“Freshkiwiproduce” Sentenced to Prison in New Zealand
A New Zealand man was sentenced to prison for distributing various drugs through the dark web under the “freshkiwiproduce” vendor account.
According to reports, Jade Scatchard, 38, was sentenced to five years and four months in prison for selling MDMA, LSD, Viagra, and Ritalin through the “freshkiwiproduce” vendor account on Tor Market. Tor Market is a marketplace for customers living in New Zealand.
Customs officers arrested Scatchard after intercepting a suspicious package destined for his home address in June 2021. The package had originated in the Netherlands. Inside the package, officers found approximately 5.15 liters of MDMA concealed within various food items.
After obtaining a search warrant, the police raided Scatchard’s residence. During the raid, police officers found and seized 127 Ritalin pills, $15,770 in cash, a vacuum sealer, more than 100 prepaid New Zealand Post courier bags, and various packaging materials.
DNL: I could not find Scatchard’s account on Tor Market. I suspect administrators nuked his account long ago. His forum profile, freshprincenz1, is still up (although obviously inactive).
Through the “freshkiwiproduce” vendor account on Tor Market, Scatchard sold LSD tabs for $7 each, MDMA for $120 a gram, Viagra for $30 per pill, and 10mg or 20mg pills of Ritalin for $10 or $20, respectively. Scatchard also promised his customers their drug packages would be delivered “like your everyday mail in your mailbox with a quirky little stealth decoy.”
Investigators established that “freshkiwiproduce” had fulfilled, at a minimum, 138 orders between January 2021 and June 2021.
Police believe Scatchard had earned at least $69,700 from MDMA sales and $1,690 from Viagra sales.
