Some Darkweb Vendors Are Concerned About New USPS Rules

Darkweb vendors have issued warnings to other vendors and members of darkweb forums about upcoming changes to the United States Postal Service’s Aviation Mail Security initiative that prohibit certain packages from entering the mail steam through Blue Boxes and Post Office mail slots.

The Postal Service is modifying its Aviation Mail Security initiative to prohibit stamped mail pieces or stamped packages that are more than one-half inch thick or weigh more than 10 ounces from entering the mail stream through collection boxes, building mail chutes, and Post Office mail slots, according to the most recent Postal Bulletin.

Effective October 1, 2019, customers who need to mail stamped packages larger than one-half inch thick or heavier than 10 ounces will need to enter the Post Office and interact with an employee of the Postal Service at the retail counter.

  • Postal Service letter carriers will be required to more closely scan the mail collected from residences and collection boxes.
  • Carriers have been instructed not to accept packages that fit the restricted criteria, even in face-to-face transactions.
  • Carriers will instruct customers to take these items to the Post Office and conduct a transaction at the retail service counter.
  • Items that cannot be returned immediately are to be isolated and returned to sender via surface transportation only.
  • Mail that is returned to sender will have a Customer Return Label (DDD2) attached explaining the restrictions and reason for return.

One vendor, in an email to darknetlive, wrote that the upcoming change will be “a major blow to the trade.” The vendor added that the new restrictions could “result in many people being investigated or worse.” Based on the emails this author has received and the scattered forum posts, it appears as if vendors are concerned that others are unaware of the changes.

The new triangular labels (pictured above) will be placed on more than 140,000 USPS collection boxes throughout the United States. Vendors and their shippers are not likely going to remain unaware for long.

Slowly, the govt has been chipping away at the tent pole factors of the business. From the UC’s everywhere online, and even MORE post office restrictions…something’s gotta give. The golden era of the dnm’s is clearly over, but what comes next?

What comes next for some will be drop gangs.

This is old news. One, most vendors do not use stamps they use online postage which is not affected by this at all. USPS could care less about drugs. This is to go after bombs and poisons being dropped in the blue bins. And heavy duty vendors with 100s of orders a day are not even using blue bins. There are other ways to drop packs off anonymously.

Postal Bulletin 22529 was released on September 26. Article September 28. Old news to USPS/USPIS employees I guess?

How TF are you going to take control of the mail stream, noone?

@USPIS guy, so.. if this isn’t targeting drugs.. are drugs a priority for you guys?

I’m surprised that private delivery services haven’t sprung up yet - specifically drone based but with the rise in self-driving vehicles and long-range private drones, I doubt it will be more than 5 to 7 years before we start to see the first delivery via person-less aircraft or car operated by well arranged groups of individuals.

The thing that no one can beat is USPS economy of scale. We will either end up paying a whole lot more for shipping, buying less, or some other option I can’t think of at the moment.

Little Timmy Creems:
Yep, future will be about long-range private drones with payload on the board and full autonomous navigation system based on topological maps and set of HD cameras which will guide flying drone instead of GPS, that could be hijacked.
I wonder why it’s not popular in US to have drugs be buried in the ground or hidden on many other rare visited or looked places, eliminating need in USPS.

From all angles controls have been tightened. Agencies have let us go pretty far for pretty long until counterfeit pharma and fent put our microcosm in the spotlight. Fent really put the target on this from the start and it’s a shame.
They could only all look the other way for so long. And besides, the “gdp”, for lack of a better word, had reached such a huge amount, it was their turn to cash in and just decimate this whole thing. Seizing crypto and cash from every bust, only for it to end up in their budget. The usps raked in 40% of their total revenues from our industry on and off market, but now they got amazon throwing such high volume and revenue their way, they have the financial cushion, they believe, to cut our business to a bare minimum.
Just watch the next earnings reports from the usps, I imagine theyll be significantly lower after the new regulations.

The only people capable of establishing an infrastructure that circumvents all forms of private or govt funded mail, and would be able to build a regional distribution center that allows “amazon prime” style delivery systems, would be the cartels. If they were able to put differences aside and avoid conflict within the states, it would be an unstoppable “Underground Railroad” system that would take care of 75% of the issues plaguing the dnm’s right now.

Idk, just my thoughts.

Yeah, this dosent mean shit. With things like BTC postage and anonymous mods to printers to get rid of the gov’ts marking dots, we can still drop packs in blue boxes

@Owere, no, the blue boxes are being altered to only have thin slots for envelopes. Pretty soon all blue boxes across the U.S. will be this way. You can no longer drop packages in blue boxes, friends.
