Trial for Suspected Darknet Drug Dealer Begins in Bavaria

On October 10, the trial for a 33-year-old alleged darknet drug trafficker began at the District Court of Ansbach. The suspect has been accused of buying drugs on the darknet to resell on his own account.

The trial began in the Grand Penal Chamber of the District Court of Ansbach.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses a 33-year-old defendant of buying a significant amount of narcotics on from his apartment in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen since 2015. He allegedly ordered drugs from darknet vendors and had them sent to his apartment. After receiving the package, he would turn around and sell the drugs on his “own internet shop on the darknet,” according to the prosecutor.

Among other things, the defendant allegedly sold more than 31 kilograms of amphetamine, 2.5 kilograms of hashish, and more than 23,000 ecstasy pills through his darkweb market account or shop. During a search of the suspect’s home in July 2017, the police also found a single marijuana plant.

In addition to four witnesses, the court has invited a psychiatric expert and an IT expert.
