Austrian Man Busted for Buying Amphetamine on the Darkweb
Authorities in Upper Austria arrested a man for allegedly buying amphetamine on the darkweb.
The Upper Austria State Police Directorate announced that a 35-year-old from Ried im Innkreis had allegedly ordered amphetamine on the darkweb multiple times.
Police officers in Ried im Innkreis executed a search warrant at the 35-year-old’s residence on February 21, 2022. The search resulted in the discovery of an indoor marijuana grow operation. Police seized the equipment and cannabis plants. In addition to the seizures of plants and equipment used in the cultivation of cannabis, the police confiscated amphetamine and dry marijuana.
The defendant admitted ordering amphetamine from vendors on the darkweb since 2017. According to statements made to the police, the defendant purchased between 300 and 400 grams of amphetamine four times a year. In total, police said, the 35-year-old had ordered between 1,500 and 2,000 grams of amphetamine since 2017. He also admitted harvesting approximately 800 grams of marijuana in one year.
