PA Man Admits Buying Stolen Credit Cards on the Darkweb
A Pennsylvania man admitted purchasing stolen credit card information on the darkweb and then making purchases with the stolen cards.
According to court documents Danel Cordero, 35, of Midland, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to one count each of access device fraud and identity theft on October 5, 2021, before United States District Judge David S. Cercone.
Cordero was charged in a four-count indictment on May 19, 2020. The indictment alleged that in 2019, Cordero purchased stolen credit card information through the darkweb and encoded them onto the magnetic strips of at least 15 gift cards. He then made fraudulent purchases with the cards from businesses in the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Cordero will be sentenced on January 26, 2022. He faces a maximum of 12 years in prison and a fine of $500,000.
