Teen Faces Trafficking Charges After Ecstasy Interception
An Austrian teen faces multiple drug trafficking charges after allegedly purchasing ecstasy on the darkweb.
Customs officers in Vienna intercepted a suspicious package addressed to an 18-year-old teen from Gmunden, Upper Austria, on July 23, 2020. After opening the package, customs officers found 200 ecstasy pills. Austrian law enforcement then searched the teenager’s residence.
During the search, officers found marijuana inside a can as well as a mobile phone. During a search of the seized phone, investigators found evidence linking the defendant to drug distribution. Investigators believe the teenager bought drugs on the darkweb to resell them locally. As a result of the information found on the phone, police arrested eight people for allegedly buying drugs from the defendant.
The teen was subsequently charged with 15 counts of drug trafficking.
