The Warrant Canary for Dread is Significantly Out of Date

The owner of the darkweb forum Dread, HugBunter, maintains a warrant canary to ensure the safety of the forum and the users of the forum. His canary has no been updated since Feburary 21, 2019.

About the Canary

This warrant canary page serves as a method of I, HugBunter, communicating with all users of my services to provide a regularly published PGP signature, verifying that I am alive and free as of the published date within the signed message. This will help to serve as disclosure if the server is compromized, or if anything has happened to myself. My PGP key is available on my profile at /u/HugBunter and should be stored by everyone immediately as this could be maliciously changed at any point in time.

The canary message will be consistently updated every Monday and will always include the current date. If the signature ever fails to verify, attempt to raise the alarm through any of my provided services and other popular channels, since it could easily be censored on any compromized service. Please allow no longer than 72 hours following each Monday if there hasn’t been an updated signature published, which should account for any issues with me accessing to provide an update on the set day.

Because I am useless, this canary is often updated on Tuesday or Wednesday, my bad.

The most likely explanation is that HugBunter is asleep on a beach somewhere and completly forgot to update the canary. In the past, when he signed a message only a few days late, he would tell me that it was usually out of forgetfulness. Although warrant canaries are important, avoiding panic in times such as this one is perhaps equally important.

He will likely be back soon but it is wise to be aware of the current situation.
